Thinking about King!Stone and Knight!Butcher and how we tried to pair them up. Only to fail.

What if we paired King!Stone up with the wrong Butcher variant? Hear me out: King!Stone x Prince!Butcher.

But the scenario I'm thinking of relies on King!Vincent marrying Prince!Butcher off and Idk if he would actually do that. He probably doesn't care about marrying his sons off.

king!vincent would really not want to marry his sons off, true. but he also knows how important it is for the kingdom n whatnot to keep their allies close. butcher can be persuaded into it, so, uh, yeah

You know I'm studying to become a therapist right now and while people can learn to overcome phobias they way people are expecting WWX to get over his fear of dogs is ridiculous. Like first of all theraphy relies on trust and desire to get help so forcing exposure wouldn't work. Second exposure therapy works best when's it's gradual so expecting this kid to live with the very real and logic fear for everyday of his life isn't going to help.

Yeah, it’s like... I haven’t really studied it, but doesn’t exposure therapy work because it’s a safe environment with gradual contact and the ability to get away from the source of the fear at any point if it’s too much? If WWX is forced to live with this thing he’s so terrified of he can’t even think without any adjustment and can never get away from it because it’s in his house, that is not exposure therapy. It’s just locking him in with his worst fear and expecting him to deal with it.

I saw recently a fanart of JC and WWX playing with dogs and the artist was saying "this is what would have happened if JFM didn't send the dogs away" and look... I'm not a psychologist but I'm pretty sure this is not how phobias work. And the funny thing is that that same artist is the kind of people that talks about how important is to take trauma, depression and mental issues seriously... but I guess that doesn't apply to cynophobia because DOGS ARE CUTE.

That... seems like an odd double standard. Why would you talk about how important it is to take mental issues seriously and then turn around and say that WWX would’ve just gotten over his deep-seated childhood trauma of being attacked by dogs if JFM had forced him to interact with them? That’s not how it works! Like, my dad is scared of dogs and he grew up with an apparently very sweet and friendly one that never hurt anyone; being forced into close proximity with the object of your fear isn’t going to just get you over it! And given how WWX is left pretty much incapable of functioning when dogs are around... yeah, the image of him playing with a bunch of dogs feels a lot less like him just getting over his phobia and a lot more like learned helplessness; he doesn’t have a choice but to pretend to be fine with it because the Jiangs put him in a situation where he was forced to spend all his time around his worst fear, so he stopped reacting to it outwardly, but that doesn’t mean he’s not scared. And even if forced proximity did cure phobias... imagine being forced into constant proximity with a creature you’re so scared of you can’t even think when it’s around and told you just have to get used to it. For years. Even if it cured the phobia, you’d end up unable to trust anyone in the group that did that to you; you certainly wouldn’t want to play with one of them.
